Fried apples
Recipe from American Girls pastimes Addy’s Cookbook
4 Firm Apples
¼ cup water
1/3 cup of butter
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
2 TBSP lemon juice
Wash apples. Insert apple corer into the center of each
apple and twist it to cut around the core. Remove the cores from all apples.
Have an adult help you slice the apples into ½ inch rings on the cutting board.
Measure water and butter into the skillet. Warm them over medium heat until the
butter melts. Add the apple slices to the skillet. Cook them for about 10
minutes. Turn them once or twice with the spatula while they cook. Sprinkle the
brown sugar and lemon juice over the slices. Gently turn all the slices to mix.
Cover the skillet and remove it from the heat. Let the apples sit for 10
minutes and serve.
