Applesauce Cake
Recipe from Vintage recipe card box
½ cup shortening
1 ½ cups sugar
2 eggs beaten
2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp cloves
¼ tsp salt
1 cup of applesauce
1 cup chopped raisins
Stir the softened shortening. Gradually add sugar and cream
together until light and fluffy. add eggs and mix well. Sift together all the
dry ingredients 3 times. Add flour mixture and Applesauce mixture alternating
with each and beat after each addition until smooth to the creamed mixture.
Fold in the raisins. Bake in a paper lined pan 9x9x1 3/4-inch pan. Bake at 350
degrees for 60 minutes or until done.
