Orange Frosting
From the Mennonite Community cookbook
1 Cup granulated sugar
1 TBSP corn syrup
2 TBSP cold water
1 egg white
2 TBSP orange juice
½ tsp orange rind
Cook sugar, syrup and water together until it reaches the
soft ball stage. Pour syrup slowly over stiffly beaten egg whites. Beat until thick
and add orange juice and rind. Spread on cake or cookies.

Orange Cookies
Recipe from Mennonite Community cookbook
1 cup shortening
2 cups of sugar
2 eggs
3 ½ to 4 cups flour
½ tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup sour milk or buttermilk
Juice and grated rind of 1 orange
Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs and beat
fluffy. Add juice and grated rind of the orange.
Sift flour and add soda, and baking powder, sift again. Add
sifted dry ingredients alternately with sour milk to creamed mixture. Mix
thoroughly. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet about 2 inches
apart. Bake at 375 degrees for about 12 minutes. Make 6 dozen. Spread with
frosting while warm.
