Apple Fritters from 1968

 Here is a fun take on apple fritters that anyone can make with just a few ingredients and some apples. 



Recipe is from Wonderful World of Welch’s cookbook from 1968

Apple Fritters

1 Cup flour

¼ cup sugar

1 ½ tsp baking powder

¼ tsp salt

1 egg

¾ cup milk

4 apples

Oil or vegetable shortening to fry in 1 ½ inches deep

In a bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add egg and milk; beat until smooth. Cut unpeeled apples into 1-2-inch-thick crosswise slices; cut out center core. Dip into batter, coating completely. In a skillet heat oil to 365-degrees. Fry apple slices for 3 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot serves 4 to 6.
