Here is a fun take on apple fritters that anyone can make with just a few ingredients and some apples.
Recipe is from Wonderful World of Welch’s cookbook from 1968
Apple Fritters
1 Cup flour
¼ cup sugar
1 ½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
1 egg
¾ cup milk
4 apples
Oil or vegetable shortening to fry in 1 ½ inches deep
In a bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add
egg and milk; beat until smooth. Cut unpeeled apples into 1-2-inch-thick
crosswise slices; cut out center core. Dip into batter, coating completely. In
a skillet heat oil to 365-degrees. Fry apple slices for 3 minutes on each side.
Drain on paper towels. Serve hot serves 4 to 6.
